About Gurukulam

Acharya Ratna Vidushi Dr. Rajam Shanker has been a dedicated practitioner of music therapy for over 30 years. Over the past decade, she has actively conducted train-the-trainer programs both independently and in collaboration with various organizations. With the rise of online platforms, she brought together a group of like-minded individuals to extend therapy services to clients across different cities.

This group, comprising talented individuals with diverse skill sets and perspectives, operates under the name Rajam’s Gurukulam. Guided by their mentor, Dr. Acharya Rajam Shanker, they collaboratively study cases and offer holistic wellness solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

In addition to music therapy, Rajam’s Gurukulam specializes in therapies such as Nadaanudandana, chakra activation through yoga, pranayama, mudras, marma therapy, mantras, and Ayurveda. Many of these methodologies are detailed in the book The Healing Powers of Indian Ragas, authored by Dr. Rajam Shanker.

The Rajam’s Gurukulam also engages new students through a variety of courses, both online and offline, with the book serving as a primary reference.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy interventions when designed by experts, aims to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, and support physical rehabilitation though musical notes. Central to these interventions is the synchronization of various sound patterns and rhythms, which harmonize with the body’s natural responses.

The human body and its cells are profoundly influenced by sounds and vibrations. Music, often referred to as the language of emotions, has the power to evoke a wide range of feelings and reactions. In everyday life, musical notes of varying frequencies play a significant role in shaping emotional and physiological experiences.
