Introduction

Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages.  Music therapy improves the quality of life, meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.  Music therapy interventions can be designed to: promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, and promote physical rehabilitation.

All our bodily functions – starting from breathing to heart rate to the pumping of blood in the heart – work in a cohesive, cyclical and rhythmic pattern, just like music does. While the basics of music are based on the rhythmic and cyclical movements of sound patterns, it is the synchronization of the various sound patterns and rhythms that influence all our physiological actions.

Benefits

Music therapy is designed to help clients achieve specific, personalized goals through carefully customized content and delivery. The duration and frequency of each session are tailored to the client, sometimes with session lengths gradually increasing as therapy progresses. Responses to music therapy are both perceptible and measurable, allowing for continuous evaluation, documentation, and feedback. Healing through music is driven by the resonant vibrations of sound, which engage the cells of the body, eliciting a response that can alter consciousness and support healing.

Highlights

All kinds of music- Tribal, Folk, classical, Rock, jazz, Opera, or oriental, every kind of music in the world uses the 7 notes to create music. Its called by different names in different genres of music.

All Swaras( notes) and Ragas( tunes)  relate to Chakras. Indian scriptures have recognised that the resonance of each of our Seven Major Chakras ( energy centres in our body) aligns perfectly with the seven notes of music, no matter if it is the Swaras of Indian Classical music- Sa re ga ma pa dha ni or Solfege notes- Do re me fa so la ti.  This association of the seven notes to the seven chakras is the basis of Raga Chikitsa.
